Work in progress is used for those things that are currently in the manufacturing stage or in the production stage but are not finished yet. Often used to say, “These products are still in the work-in-progress stage.”

Location

There is a “working in progress” subsection given in the inventory module.  There are different subsections given in it. Such as

Here you can see different subsections given here. It includes stocks, brands, and a price list.

When you click on progress. A window comes in front of your screen. Through this window, you can track the ongoing production costs (material, labor, and factory overhead costs) and see finished goods or goods still in progress.

Table Summary

There is a table given having a consolidated summary of existing items. All existing work in progress on items is given here. There are multiple columns, such as

  • Reference number: It is a unique number through which you can identify or track your items.
  • Title—Here, the user will identify the title or name of the project or product easily.
  • Material Cost—this column shows you the total cost of raw material used in the manufacturing of goods.
  • Labor’s Cost—This column tells the user about the total cost of labor involved while in production. It could be labor’s daily wages or hourly charges.
  • FOH (factory overhead) cost—factory overhead cost shows you the indirect costs included in the manufacturing of goods.  E.g., the electricity cost used in the manufacturing of an item. It could be 0.0 if it is not applied.
  • Total Cost—Total cost consists of material cost, labor cost, and FOH cost. Here, it automatically shows the calculated cost of production.
  • Total Finished Items—Here, the user can analyze the quantity of items completed. If there is 0, it means there are no complete items; production is still going on.
  • Status—From here, you can check the current state of work in progress. Whether it is in an in-progress state or in a completed state.
  • “In Progress” state means items are not fully completed.  The work in progress is still ongoing, and the cost could change at the end.
  • Completed State—a complete state means production is finalized, the total cost is final, and finished goods are ready for sale.
  • Edit—there is an edit icon given, which allows you to make any changes or modify it and then save it.
  • Delete—the trash icon is given to remove any information permanently from the WIP record. Only items that are in a work-in-progress state can be selectable and editable, but items that are completed can’t be deleted or edited

At the end of the table, there are pagination and viewing control options.

  • Per page—click on the per-page filter to control how many WIP records appear on a page.  E.g., 10, 50, 100, etc.
  • Page Navigation—Use this filter to go to the previous/next page or page number to navigate.  E.g., 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and Next.
